Chelsea and Randy are one of the most loving and generous couples and it was their dream to have a small destination wedding surrounded by their closest loved ones. For them, this was more than just a wedding between a bride and a groom – it was a chance to officially blend their combined five children and lives together in this exciting new chapter.

Living in Southern Illinois, the couple knew they wanted to travel somewhere amazing yet accessible for their closest friends and family members to join in their wedding day. Always ones for the beach, they knew Descanso Beach Club on Catalina Island would be the ultimate wedding destination for them! With a beach-front ceremony location and a reception dinner space with killer views they knew that this was the location for their dream wedding.

To make that dream a reality, the couple chose amazing and creative wedding vendors like Isari Flower Studio, Revel Wedding Company and Celebrations in Paper. The wedding design was taken straight from the Frank Lloyd Wright and Art Deco architecture that is so beautiful and prominent in Avalon. All of that history combined with the stunning natural surroundings created the ultimate backdrop for this memorable day!

Julie & Mat are the hippest, coolest couple I have ever met. They live in THE most amazing apartment in San Francisco, they have the absolute best sense of style and they both are artists in their own right.  Oh and they madly in love with each other which is just adorable!  Essentially an engagement session made in Elyse’s Heaven.   Mat and Julie were so prepared for this shoot, they had multiple locations that were meaningful to them scouted out and all were so beautiful and well thought out.

Capturing this gorgeous Day on Film, with my Contax645 on Fuji 400h film made the images romantic and lovely.   I adore film, It ignites my creativity so much.

This shoot is one I will never forget, besides the fact that they are basically an anthropology ad; I am so in love with every image and I loved their energy together.  It was so delightful to photograph.   Xoxo

Vintage, handcrafted and special touches were what made Leah and Rob’s wedding day so unique and beautiful. Leah and Rob who are both native New Englanders who met and fell in love in Boston, MA. When they became engaged they knew they wanted a wedding that was very close to home and united their love not only for each other but for the New England scenery and aspects of their upbringings.

Sea glass, which Leah and her mom have been collecting for years from the beach of her parents second home in Puerto Rico; where Leah and Rob got engaged, was the inspiration for her color palette. Paired with the theme of important touches, Leah and Rob chose to get married in Leah’s family church, St. Theresa in Rye, NH. The dress mold that hung her dress was her great grandmothers as well as the tray, purse, handkerchief and cake server were all handed down to her from her mom and grandmas. Leah also chose to get ready at her family home in Hampton, NH where she has lived her entire life and was accompanied by her mom, wedding party and her family dog, Nemo. Another unique component were the favors: which were real Maine maple syrup that came from Robb’s parents farm in Maine.

Creating a day that felt very special, personal and filled with family was what was the most important to the lovely couple. An extra special treat was being able to leave the church in Rob’s uncle’s vintage Red Shelby Mustang, which was a perfect way to kick off the night and get the party started. At the reception guests enjoyed a beautiful setting at the Abenaqui Country Club that was so light and airy and continued the theme of simple, beautiful and personal touches. Handwritten guest names by the bride on her collected sea glass was really thoughtful and extra unique. Overall Leah and Rob’s day was magic and perfect for them in every way!

Amanda & Matt are a dream couple.  They live in my most favorite city, New York City,  they are foodies and they are both really creative and fun people.   When we were chatting about where to their engagement session there is no other place we all three of us would have rather taken them then NYC.

We didn’t have a set in stone plan, we left their ridiculously adorable upper west side (my favorite part of the city) apartment and just wandered.  We went to Central Park to capture the fresh fall coloring before it vanished to the winter.    I have personally been to Central Park on many different occasions but to see it thru their eyes made it extra special. Wandering and adventure for a shoot is  where some the best work comes from!

After the park we headed down to Corner Bistro, If you are a NYC foodie like myself this is a must stop.  The best Hamburger I have ever had.  It was so yummy!  After lunch  we then went down to the village area and shot near the most adorable little restaurant where Amanda & Matt had their first date; I think it is always a fun idea to incorporate fun spots and places that are significant to the couple, it just makes it more memorable.

This was such a lovely shoot and I love these two so so much.  I am looking forward to their upcoming Four Seasons and Some like it Classic wedding!  I know its going to be beyond AMAZING! Xoxo
